Memorable Moments 2009
(Addison & Jasmine turned 2 in February; Sabrina was born the same month)
Experiencing parenthood a second...er, third time (?), has been interesting. I admit that first year we had Jasmine and Addison was rough and mostly a blur because I can't recall much. I guess I always wondered if having twins was that much harder than having a singleton. It's true I suppose, but 3 little ones is quite challenging. I am glad I had Jasmine and Addison first though! Sabrina's firsts (smile, giggle, roll over, step, etc.) were memorable and met with equal enthusiasm, but are not included in this particular list.
15. When Chiu's mom was still here and Sabrina was about 4 months old, she cried for a good 30+ minutes non-stop while I was putting Jasmine and Addison to bed one night. I held her the first chance I got. She stopped within 2 seconds...then turned around and gave my MIL the BIGGEST grin.
14. Jasmine had just started to talk, and we were flipping through a magazine. Jasmine suddenly says something that sounds like the four letter curse word. It turns out she was saying Frog or Fox, much to my relief!!
13. Once Chiu came home early and came into the playroom in the middle of a playdate with Peyton (Lorena & Hang's little girl). Peyton started crying and Jasmine, the clever kid she is, figured out why and exclaimed "Daddy not scary!"
12. Jasmine wanted Chiu's mom to read to her one day. Addison (knowing Grandma doesn't usually read to them) turns to Jasmine and says "Mama too old"!
11. I put Sabrina in the Exersaucer (the stable play thing) before starting dinner one evening. Jasmine and Addison decided to play dress up hats with her. Sabrina was a good sport about it until they started yanking the hats off her head. Oooooops. (Surprisingly enough, I was able to capture this in a 30 seconds video. It is on Facebook under the "Videos" tab called "HATS").
10. During a test run of their Halloween costumes, Jas (a dalmatian puppy) turns to Addison (a chicken) and says, "Addison, say Gobble Gobble!"
9. Addison would stop in the middle of playing to check on Sabrina and give her a hug or toys (she's done this since baby was a few weeks old!).
8. I was being goofy one night and doing stuff (dancing, "swimming", "snorkeling", etc.) to make the girls smile while they sat at the dinner table. I looked up at one point and all three of my little girls were laughing together.
7. For a while, the girls would wake up each morning and declare they were "Aurora," "Belle," or some other Disney princess. They would be that character the rest of the day, and I'd get a better response when I called them by their chosen character's name. One day (after a trip to the safari park nearby), I overheard Chiu's mom ask Jasmine if she's Chinese. Jasmine answers, "I am a wallaby!"...not quite the answer Grandma was looking for!
6. Every time I talked about her Dad, Addison would perk up and say Chiu's name in a questionable tone. First and last. Non-stop for a whole week.
5. After giving Jasmine some medication the "hard way" for several days, she learned that if she drank it herself that the "easy way" was much better. Taking a bath together later that week, Addison refused to look up to rinse her hair, Jasmine pipes in "hard way?!"
4. Hearing Sabrina giggle whole heartedly when her sisters are being silly and trying to make her laugh.
3. I was talking on the phone one day, and Addison shouts (rather loudly), "IS IT SANTA?!"
2. I had been teaching the girls to say "not yet" instead of "no". One day, we had an ant problem in the kitchen. Since I needed to distract them, I told them to count them if they saw any. Chiu's mom asks if there are any in the playroom, to which Jasmine replies, "not yet!"
1. I was in the kitchen with Jasmine explaining to her that she couldn't play with the toys on the kitchen counter because her Dad was going to put new batteries in them. All of a sudden I hear Addison run by yelling "Farmer Brown, Farmer Brown's tractor!" Apparently she had been listening!
